The Hong Kong Startup Association (HKSUA) is a grassroots association dedicated to helping entrepreneurs in internet and technology startups build successful companies in Hong Kong and the Greater China region through
information sharing, training, and education events.
The HKSUA was founded in August 2008 and is led by the founders of Socialutions, a technology company that creates innovative Internet and web platforms that promote progressive social technologies. Since its launch,
the HKSUA has grown to over 300+ members.
The Hong Kong Startup Association (HKSUA) conceived and organized a series of educational events and workshops, in addition to being a supporting organization for many others. The HKSUA encourages anyone with an interest in internet and technology in Hong Kong and the Greater China region to become members.
The key objectives of the HKSUA are as follows:
(a) To promote and provide education and training to startup companies based either in Hong Kong or elsewhere but whose market focus is inHong Kong or the Greater China region.
(b) To arrange for or assist in the organizing of meetings, lectures, seminars and training courses on matters relating to startup activity. The Association plans to tentatively commence holding such meetings in 3Q 2008 and aims to provide a forum for Internet entrepreneurs to share their experiences and provide information exchange and assistance to other Hong Kong startups to help them grow their businesses. The Association will gather grassroots support and seeks to grow along with the entrepreneurs it supports.
(c) To provide a convenient channel of communication between startups, investors and funding sources, service providers, and Hong Kong or other governments.
(e) To act as a consultative body in dealing with on matters related to the practice of startup activity in Hong Kong or elsewhere and such other businesses customarily carried on by the startup industry.
(f) To collect, circulate and disseminate statistics and information relating to the practice of startups in Hong Kong or elsewhere or otherwise likely to be of interest to the Association.
(g) To act as a representative consulting and advisory body to the Association and startups and to co-operate and maintain relations with other bodies and organizations whether situated in Hong Kong or elsewhere in all matters touching or concerning the practice of startups or such other businesses customarily carried on by startups in Hong Kong or elsewhere.
(h) To adopt such means of publicizing or making known the activities of the Association and disseminating information and opinions on all matters touching and concerning the practice of startups and such other business or businesses customarily carried on by startups in Hong Kong or elsewhere, as may be thought fit.
(i) To do or cause to be done all such other acts and things as may be conductive to the progress, prosperity and advancement of the Association
(j) To promote the Association in other markets and areas.
(k) To adopt such means of making known and advertising the business, objects and purposes of the Association as may be deemed expedient, for the purposes of the Association.
(l) To apply for, secure, acquire by grant, legislative enactment, assignment, transfer, purchase, or otherwise, and to exercise, carry out, and enjoy any charter, license, power, authority, franchise, concession, right or privilege, which any government or authority or any corporation or other public body may be empowered to grant.
(m) To amalgamate or cooperate with any companies, institutions, clubs, societies or associations of a charitable nature whose objects are similar or in part similar to those of the Association.
