Announcement: Final Call For HKSUA Workshop - Open Source & Startups - Tuesday June 16th 2009

Thank you to those who have registered for our forthcoming workshop on Tuesday June 16th at Servcorp’s office in Central. We have 3 seats remaining. Those interested, should register with us at their earliest convenience by sending an email to info@hksua.com.hk with your full name, email address, company name (if applicable) and contact number. If you are interested in serviced office solutions, please advise so on the same email.
Are you using open source code in your latest project? Do you know if you are? If not, you should do an audit and determine if any open source code is being used because it has serious Intellectual Property (IP) ramifications.

Did you know that using code licensed under the GNU GPL (General Public License) could potentially undermine your IP rights if certain precautions and planning do not take place? The same may apply to other open source code released under other licenses.

Join us for an evening workshop with Aaron Farr to get a sense of the issues you need to be aware of to protect your valuable IP while using open source code. Over the last decade, Aaron has contributed to and led open source projects, notably Apache Avalon and Apache Excalibur, and implemented open source in Fortune 500 companies and small startups. He currently sits on the board of directors for the Apache Software Foundation.

The event is free. Due to space limitations, we will only allow one representative from each company to attend.

Our event sponsor Servcorp, is the industry-leading, technologically advanced provider of the most professional, flexible and cost- effective serviced office and virtual office solutions. Servcorp enables companies of any size to work with the infrastructure, support and presence of a multinational organization without the long term commitment and capital expenditure.

I hope the event will be another interesting one and look forward to seeing you there.

Regards,

HKSUA
